Minimalist Interior Design For the Modern Home

Minimalist Interior Design For the Modern Home

Modern minimalist designs are not the old, harsh decor of years ago. The new look for minimalist interior design is a softer look, more personal and easier to live with. I love the look of a minimalist interior design scheme.

Walls and Color
Of course, white has got to be the ultimate color for any self-respecting minimalist scheme.
Only choose one color, or color group, for your accent color. Furniture
Choose something simple and classy for your minimalist interior design look.
Plain, modern-looking furniture is ideal - in natural wood (especially dark wood), dark leather, white or bright colors, or chrome, glass, mirror and stainless steel.

Floors and Windows

Less is more with a minimalist style.

Accessories

Naturally, accessories are not a major part of a modern minimalist look. By all means clear out the clutter, and have a god sort out, but remember that your minimalist interior design look does need a few, well-chosen, carefully positioned accessories, to complete the look, and make your house into a home.
Maintaining a successful minimalist interior design scheme will take a little more work on your part.

Minimalist Interior Design For the Modern Home

Minimalism
Minimalist interior design came about as a direct result of the Minimalist art movement which first surfaced in the 1950s in New York and dominated the art world through the 1950s and 1960s. Minimalist art is self-contained art; external references and emotion are avoided. Interior designers who work with minimalism tend to broadly follow this ideal. Minimalist interiors are designed to facilitate a sense of calm and peace. The minimalist interior designer uses light to define the forms and the spaces where other designers would use materials and finishes.
A committed minimalist will not be happy until every space serves at least two distinct functions.

Energy Efficiency

If a designer meets these three objectives, the design produced would undoubtedly be a minimalist one.
Of course many will slap a coat of white paint on the walls, rip some carpets up, and put a few openings in walls and call it a minimalist design, but for a design to be truly minimalist a bottom-up approach is needed.

Finding the Missing Element in Interior Decoration Schemes

Then Safari style decorating might be the answer. Since that time, homeowners have been decorating their homes with electrifying safari style décor.
The main attributes of safari design are natural, organic materials combined with bold colors and patterns. There are many interior decorating ideas that are available if you want to decorate your bedroom in the Safari style. Yes, animal prints are never out of fashion for decorating small rooms and spaces. Animal prints and showpieces can most defiantly turn your home into a royal retreat.
Finding the Missing Element in Interior Decoration Schemes
One of the most attractive aspects of this design theme is the use of earth tones and animal colors which give a natural touch to a room. You will find a good variety of suitable rugs that go well with the Safari decorating theme that can be found in animal prints or shapes and colored like animal skin. There are many decorative pieces that you can choose to emphasize the Safari decorating scheme. Animal figurines as well as pillows that are covered in animal print fabrics along with house plants call attention to the theme of the room. A blanket or throw made of synthetic animal skin print would be absolutely eye-catching with the whole Safari theme of the bedroom. Fake animal decorative pieces are found in most interior design shops.

Office Interior Design

Office Interior Design
If your office is a home-based one, then you need to select the suitable area and plan the interior decorating accordingly. Next, choose the suitable interior-decorating scheme.
Talking of a general or commercial office, some guiding factors for interior decorating are freedom of movement, appearance, maximum space utilization, and so on.

Office Interior Design
For an office, starting from the entry point to the cafeteria lounge, interior-decorating ideas must be chosen carefully. Safety is also important in big offices, since a large number of employees work there. Interior decorating for an office is one thing most people employ an expert to do on their behalf.
Office Interior Design
Frequently, an interior designer does the initial designing as well as some decorating if the building is new. Interior decorators focus on things like curtains and window blinds, artwork items, buying furniture and watching for particular pieces of art that would highlight the floor space and office space generally to give visitors to the office a warm and inviting feeling. Lawyers would not require lots of various furnishings pieces spread throughout the office; actually their office furniture could even be more for elegance than for comfort simply because wait times are rarely long in an attorney's office. Interior decorating a workplace differs from decorating a home. Then, communicate that to the interior designer who's taking care of decorating your office.

Interior Designing For a Complete Home Makeover

Interior Designing For a Complete Home Makeover
If you are debating whether your home needs an interior design makeover, the first thing you should do is pat yourself on the back. Because this shows you truly care about your home. A home is not just a physical structure with a roof on top.
1. Interior Design is Not as Expensive as it Sounds
Giving your home a makeover is not about adding costly pieces of furniture or shiny accessories.
2. Increase Your Home Value through Interior Design
Investing time and money in your home and making it look more appealing and attractive will increase the value of your home. If you are looking to relocate to a different house or location, giving your home a makeover will help you sell your property faster and with profit.
3. Make Your Home Look More Appealing
4. Lack of Proper Lightening
When it comes to furnishing your home, proper lightening can be the difference between eye catching and eye balling. An important part of interior design is proper and adequate lighting. The right type of light in the right amount should reach every corner of the room to give proper exposure to everything in the room.
5. An Empty Backyard
Interior design makeovers are not just about the house itself but about its surroundings as well. Many people make the mistake of ignoring their garden, backyard or the front and back porch of their home. Bird feeders and birdhouses will serve as a great addition to your garden.

Most home owners with wood floors often wonder what is the best approach for laminate floor cleaning? The answer is quite simple and laminate floor cleaning can be easily accomplished with common household chemicals!

The first step required for laminate floor cleaning is the good old fashioned broom sweeping. Sweeping will also make mopping your floor much easier and cleaner.

After the floor is swept free of debris you can make your laminate floor cleaning mixture! Laminate flooring has emerged as an extremely popular alternative to traditional wood flooring. Laminate flooring is pretty easy to maintain. You should also avoid vinegar on your laminate floors. If you repeatedly expose your floor to acid it can potentially damage the aluminum oxide coating of the laminate, thus dulling your floor. Perhaps a bigger problem for laminate floors are scratches from pets or furniture. Laminate flooring does require some special attention and care, but all in all, it is a very easy to maintain flooring option.

Laundry Room Designs

Laundry Room Designs

Laundry Room Designs

Laundry Room Designs

Why is it that dingy basement laundry room designs are the norm?
It is time to take a look at sensible laundry room designs. Good laundry room designs should provide for convenience for the entire process and not just washing and drying. The entire process includes sorting, washing, drying, folding, and ironing so here is my wish list for a laundry room makeover.
Stacked full size washer and dryer - Any space over the washer or dryer is wasted space. A laundry room designed just for laundry - Ever notice how laundry rooms get messy with dirty clothes and laundry hampers strewn about? My dream laundry center will be just for laundry so that I do not have to trip over other things (basketballs, runners, coats, snowsuits, galoshes etc) on laundry day.
A laundry center close to where the "inputs" are! - Why can't the laundry center be close to the bedrooms? That's where most of the laundry comes from! Drying Area - Or some small space or drying rack to hang up clothing that needs to be air dried
If laundry day has to be a part of contemporary life, it can certainly be made a lot more enjoyable by good laundry room designs!
Laundry rooms used to be the neglected room in the house. Some things to think about when designing your laundry room are:
Folding/Hanging: Give yourself enough countertop space to enable folding of large loads of laundry.
